Membership Committee Launched By Used Textbook Association

Bookstore Managers Work to Build Membership Omaha, NE, June 19, 2007 – The Used Textbook Association (UTA) announced today the formation of a Membership Committee comprised of bookstore managers from various sized bookstores and locations throughout the United States. Through the Membership Committee, bookstore managers have the opportunity to provide input and recommendations on how to build the membership base for the Association.

Jim Sheppard, Executive Director, Used Textbook Association, said; “We are focused on building a strong member-centric association and believe that one of the best ways to recruit new members is through our current member base. This is an excellent way for bookstores to become more involved with the Used Textbook Association and help share their insight and knowledge on how best to build membership.”

The one-year appointed committee, initially selected through nominations by UTA members, will be responsible for providing recommendations on building the membership base including suggestions for marketing programs, membership drives, retention of current members and proposed partnerships. The UTA will be launching a marketing committee soon; an Oversight Committee was launched in February 2007. Annually, bookstore members will be solicited to serve on one of the committees in order to keep fresh perspectives and to ensure that a well-rounded group of bookstores is represented.
