Used Textbook Association Names Executive Director

Lincoln, Nebr., - The Used Textbook Association has announced that Jim Sheppard has accepted the position of executive director.

Recently retired from a 27-year career with Michigan State University (MSU), Sheppard has extensive experience within the field of academia. He joined MSU in 1979 and served as director of the MSU Union with responsibility over all business functions including retail, bookstore operations, conference services, food service, recreation and campus-wide student activities. Sheppard also served as president, central region, for the National Association of College Auxiliary Services from 2003 to 2004.

Barry Major, chief operating officer for Nebraska Book Company and president of the Used Textbook Association, said, "We're very excited about Jim's future contribution to the Association. He has a clear understanding of the issues through the eyes of university administrators, faculty and students. We're pleased that he has decided to work with us to help further the goals of the Used Textbook Association and ensure textbooks remain affordable for students."

Sheppard will begin his role as executive director in early January 2007.

The Used Textbook Association Board of Directors has also appointed Tom Ebert, New Jersey Books, as vice president. Ebert replaces Dan Schuppan, MBS Textbook Exchange, who withdrew from the Used Textbook Association Board of Directors and resigned his position as vice president in November 2006.
