Used Textbook Association Membership Surges
Omaha, Nebr., November 27, 2007 – The rapid growth of the Used Textbook Association continues. The organization today announced that more than 585 bookstores are now members. These participating bookstores serve more than 5.2 million students nationwide.
The Used Textbook Association and member bookstores work to help reduce the cost of textbooks and keep more used books available for students. The group advocates the role and value of used textbooks in the marketplace. “In our first year of operations, we have generated a growing interest among college bookstores,” said Jim Sheppard, Executive Director, Used Textbook Association. “This strong support illustrates the commitment of bookstores to provide affordable textbooks for students. We are also proud that regional bookstore associations are also offering their official support for the goals and activities of the Used Textbook Association.”
The California Association of College Stores (CACS) and the South Carolina Association of College Stores (SCACS) have officially announced support for the Used Textbook Association. “This nationwide participation re-affirms our mission and the commitment of bookstores to provide affordable textbooks for students,” Sheppard said.
In addition to advocating the advantages of used books in the college marketplace, the Used Textbook Association provides information and assistance to member bookstores. Members have online access to more than 100 different marketing and communications tools designed to help build dynamic used textbook programs.
