Used Textbook Association Exceeds 540 Bookstore Members
Omaha, Nebr., August 1, 2007 - The Used Textbook Association announced today that it has approximately 540 bookstore members serving more than 5.2 million students and is adding additional members daily.
Jim Sheppard, Executive Director, Used Textbook Association, said: "With the Used Textbook Association being less than a year old, we are extremely pleased with the growth we are experiencing. To be approaching 550 bookstore members this quickly, re-affirms our mission and the commitment of bookstores to provide affordable textbooks for students."
The Used Textbook Association, the first of its kind in the industry, advocates the role and value of used textbooks in the marketplace and is working toward a marketplace solution to the problem of textbook affordability while still providing students with high-quality educational materials.
The objectives of the association include limiting un-necessary bundling, built-in obsolesce, and new editions. In addition, the association is working to improve faculty adoption rates ensuring more money for students at the buyback counter and more used textbooks being available the following term.
