Used Textbook Association Contest Offers Students $500 in Prizes
Omaha, Nebr., December 3, 2007 - The Used Textbook Association is hosting a national contest to award money to students to buy textbooks. The online contest will give 10 winning students $500 each for textbook purchases.

The contest invites students at participating institutions to sign up at www.usedtextbookassociation.org by December 21, 2007. Winners will be announced by the end of December - in time to buy books for next semester.

The Used Textbook Association, along with member college and university bookstores, concentrates on reducing textbook costs to students. This contest moves that ideal into action with the $500 prizes to help students buy books.

"The Used Textbook Association recognizes the support that students bring to our organization. With this contest, we want to show our appreciation," said Jim Sheppard, Executive Director, Used Textbook Association. "We are proud to help students with their textbook expenses in 2008."

Used Textbook Association member bookstores across the country are promoting the contest in their bookstores. "This program promotes the University, the Bookstore, and the UTA," said Lisa Kakavas, Textbook Manager, University of Maryland Baltimore County Bookstore. "It allows us to step up beyond the norm, to give back with something that directly benefits students. Everybody wins!"

The Used Textbook Association and member bookstores work to help reduce the cost of textbooks and keep more used books available for students. The Used Textbook Association advocates the role and value of used textbooks in the marketplace. The organization began in 2006 with founding members from textbook wholesale companies across the United States. Currently, more than 580 bookstores are UTA members.
